GR-D200U will not power up or eject the tape

This unit is highly under-utilized since we bought it 4 years ago. We've recorded 4-5 tapes worth with it, and last used it about a year ago. Now the tape is stuck and the unit doesn't power up (we get no display with LCD). It DOES beep and the LED lights/flashes when switching between "off" and "Play" modes as though things are working though...
