Need a sony part for UVW 1800

I have a UVW 1800, the gear on the tape carriage is broken how can I get a replacement gear, or the whole carriage unit

the large gear is called the "midway gear" and is p/n 3-171-479-01. in stock at Sony for $12.98.

which gear is broken? there are 3 gears in the cassette housing.
