HomeUnable to get PanasonicDMR EZ47VEB DVD VHS Combi unit to start-up on Freeview. Hi I've just unwrapped a Panasonic DVD VHS Combi unit, Model DMR-EZ47V, and plugged it in and have immediately run into problems. The TV is tuned to the appropriate Scart input but when I power-up the Combi unit the screen remains blank whereas I would expect to see a "Welcome Message" whilst the unit automatically tunes to the available digital stations. The unit gives the message "Please wait" then "Hello" but after a couple of minutes ends up with the message "A1" which I assume is an error code. I've managed to playback both DVD's and VHS Tapes to the TV so I.m happy that the hook-up between the Combi and the TV is OK but unit does not seem to want to play on digit broadcaste signals. My exisiting set top box works perfectly OK with my aerial to watch digital channels so I don't think that I have a problem re weak signal. Have I missed something obvious? GT

Hi, Thanks for your feedback. Just to let you know that I've managed to get the unit to work by using the Function Menu button on the remote and selecting "To Others" then "Setup" then "Auto Setup Restart". See page 58 of the Panasonic Manual for full details. Unit is now tuned to all available Freeserve channels and it has also downloaded updated software. But I now have another query! Also in the same list of options from the Function Menu button is the option to setup Owner ID and security PIN which lead me on to discover that the unit was preowned albeit I was aware that it was not brand new and was sold to me as an ex-demonstration model! Perhaps this is why the unit didn't want to run the Auto Setup on initial power-up. Anybody know a quick fix to reset the Owner ID? Thanks GT Hi, I've managed to sort my unit out now - Go to functions on the remote then on screen page down the options to SETUP, then CONNECTION then AV1 OUTPUT and ensure this is set to RGB1 good luck I have same problem with new unit that I unwrapped yesterday - the unit itself downloaded the latest version of the software so I'm wondering whether its a software fault |
