The Battery is not charging and when put for charging the LED for charger keeps blinking

Hi, I have a JVC Mini DV camcoder, i had purchased 3 years back. Recently my battery has drained out and it does not charge, when i put it for charging the LED for charger keeps blinking. what is the cause and solution for this problem. Regards Russell
