RCA Scenium

Guys, I have to replace the lamp for my RCA Scanium. I bought one but when received through shipment got that the lamp was not compatible to my Tv. The picture of my Tv got black at once. My friend told me to replace the lamp. Is this right to replace the lamp? Any suggestions?
