Sony DSC-S70 not charging

My DSC-S70 is totally dead. I have 2 Sony batteries that were holding their charge, and the camera worked like a charm. After a recent shoot, I plugged the camera into the remote charger, and the indicator is totally blank -- no charge coming through. Also, with the charger plugged in, the camera won't turn on. I took a multimeter to the "camera" side of the charger, and it shows a DC "pulse" coming in. I cleaned the contacts on the plug, and in the charger port of the camera. Still nothing. Can you advise what the problem might be? Thanks you for your assistance.
