Sony KP-46V15 Big Screen TV

Chris Posted Oct 03, 2007

Picture works intermittently

I have a 1993 Sony projection TV (model KP-46V15) that has an intermittent problem. After the TV has operated for a certain amount of time (i.e. warmed up) the picture disappears for awhile and then reappears. Before it warms up and when playing a DVD, the TV "operates normally". The problem gets worse as the length of time that the TV has been on increases, and seems to be worse when watching programs that frequently change pictures (such as sporting events). If the TV is shut off for a while and "cools down", it will operate for awhile before the problem reappears. I would like to know what the problem is, or at least whether it is worth getting a repair manual and attempting to fix it (or whether it is out of my league).
