trouble shooting; reset?

The other day I plugged in something next to the plug for the jvc unit, and I think it partially loosened the jvc plug, the next thing I noticed is that the jvc unit was dark, turned off completely. I checked the manual and it said to unplug and plug. I did this several times. leaving it unplugged a total of 12 hours at one point but the unit does not come back on at all. What do you think is wrong with the unit and what else can I try. Stella
