I can't get the cassette (door) to close (pull itself shut automatically) on my JVC GR-D290u DV camcorder. We do not think we closed the outside cover too quickly, before the electronically operated internal cassette holder was completely pulled into place; nor did we drop it, or bump it. I've tried everything (different fully charged batteries, different cassettes, AC adapter, resetting the menu to factory settings, wiggling the ligature gently at various times during the procedure). When I power the camera on, the cassette holder pops up (and a little tune is played), but when I squeeze the holder shut again the camera does not seem to realize the holder is shut, and will not pull it the rest of the way closed (or react in anyway). Everything else seems to be working fine. Please tell me of some over-ride to manually insert the cassette all the way in. I will not spend $100 to fix a camera that I can replace on eBay for $80.
