Re: i want to be a singer

sara elizabeth Posted Sep 21, 2007, in response to:kailah

hi, my name's sara and i am a singer/actress/dancer. When i was younger i felt the same way as you did, and i knew right then and there what i wanted to do for the rest of my life. if you want to get in to the business ill give you my advice. First off, don't be a singer unless you really really want to. Because it is so hard these days to get into the business and you have to sacrifice alot before you start gaining. You must be patient because it might take a while till you get somewhere. Next, practice singing. The best thing to do for a serious singer is to get a voice teacher who teaches your style of singing. If you are an rnb singer, try to find a voice teacher with a style similiar to that. i made that mistake once. i sing songs that involve a lot of belting and stuff, and i went to an opera singer for voice lessons. we didnt get very far, so then i left her and got a voice teacher who sang my style, and it was much better. They can be expensive, but they are worth it. Do simple scales on a piano daily. Dont give up if you dont sound as good as youd like to. It doesnt happen overnight. Last off, expose yourself. Perform in talent shows, in front of friends, whenever you get the chance. Once you get to the point where you are ready to go further, try to find an agent. You can find them in the yellow pages sometimes. Please email me with other questions. i love giving advice.
