white line in picture

Can't recall the model # but bought the TV from local TV store not a chain in 2002. This week a white line apeared a the top of the screen after about an hour and a half of watching a movie. The line became a three inch fog that rolled through the picture so rapidly we couldn't watch the tv any longer. It continues to due this after about the same amount of time any time we try to watch the TV. Is our tube going out? Any clue???
