Help with BVW-300 Recording issue

Hi there, I just purchased a BVW-300 (NTSC) and it works fine except there seems to be a slight tearing in the brighter parts of the luminance channel, almost like a ghosting effect. Has anyone ever seen this before or might know how to fix it? I'm thinking it might be bad caps but I'm not sure where to start looking because I've only dealt with DVCPro repairs before. I know it's an older camera but I really like it and would like to see if I can get it back to 100% Oh, the camera output on the video out is perfect, it's just in the recordings. Thanks!

sounds like bad heads. the "tearing" you are seeing is a result of loss of high frequency response on the heads. a good cleaning MAY help for a while, but replacement is the only sure fix.
