Hello;
I purchased a new camcorder from Fry's Electronics on July 2nd, 2005. Less than 8 months into ownership, I had to have the "imaging device" replaced, at a labor cost of 200.00. I thought all was well after that experience, but was proven wrong at the 14th month from date for purchase. After footing the bill for both the device and labor this time around, I am rather skittish about trusting this unit with my video endeavors. The main reason for this is not only the track record of my JVC purchase, but also, in my limited exposure to others with EXACTLY the same problem.(Loss of Pix,intermittent pix, etc, while in "record" mode.)
The course of action I would like to pursue now is to have JVC purchase the camera back from me, along with compensation for my time and trouble. The amount for the additional charges, I feel, should be on the order of 700.00 dollars, making the total 1100.00 dollars. I would certainly like to settle this without further litigation, to absolve both parties of additional time and material lost,
Thank you very much for your time in this matter. JVC manufacturers many fine products, as my ownership of other devices can attest. However, this camcorder is not one of them, in my opinion.
Sincerely,
Michael Borelli
