Sony DSC-W30 has stopped turning on...charged battery, even bought a new battery.

My Sony camera is only turning on intermittently. I've charged the battery and even purchased a new battery and it still will not reliably turn on. Have you seen this problem before? If so, does it make more sense to purchase a new camera or fix this one?
