LENS CAP

Im having the problem with the words (lens cap) flashing at me when I turn on the camera, then the screen goes black and I can't see anything but I can hear what I have recorded. I have replaced the small battery inside and the large battery works fine and charges up fine!! Anyone have a clue what is wrong and what I need to do. Model number GR-SXM265U. I would like to be able to use it since I'm on a fixed income and really can't afford to buy another one!!! Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
