sony kp57hw40 rear projection tv

randy Posted Aug 17, 2007

fix your sony tv with a great blog manual

These are some old posting regarding the sony projection tv's -- but just in case you hit this site like I did -- the sony KP57hw40 down to at least the sony kp51hw40 is having problems SONY won't step up and fix - note to self don't ever buy another Sony -- warranty or not nobody is spending that kind of money on a 5 year tv -- anyway - If you're having trouble with red or blue lines go to www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html I've used it -- it's easy and great -- couldn't believe the repair guys didn't know about it -- they want to suggest replacing the tubes only problem I still have left is a much less frequent flashing of the picture (less than once a week) -- good luck Randy

The CRT's (picture tubes) are bad in these sets, Sony has a technical buletin out on it. Adjusting the G2 (screen) controls will only prolong the inevitible, necessary replacement of the CRT's, Sorry for the news, this is a costly procedure and now new CRT's are not available for all models and will have to be replaced with a remanufactured unit. Best bet to adjust G2 down untill need replacement of whole TV. I have worked on quite a few of these, but the G2 will work for a while.
