I have tried to install my MP4 on my computer but it won't let me

I bought a MP4 player on Holiday in Bulgaria I know it works cos I got music downloaded on to it whilst I was away. The disc I got with it is in Japanese and won't load on2 my computer either and when I connnect the device to my computer it says that the device is not compatible. Is there anyway of downloading the settings it's a Sony MP4. When I bough my MP3 it just popped up on my computer straight away without a disc
