JVC Digital video camera Model GR- D50ek saying something about a lens cap need help to get picture

Likewise I have a JVC Digital video camera Model GR- D50ek. When recording I receive a message saying lens cap is on when it is off I get no image whatsoever. The screen indicates recording is operating. Any solutions? did anyone find a solution?
