JVC GR-DU800U "Lens Cap" Error, No LCD viewing

My camera all of a sudden after 3 years is not working. The LCD screen and viewfinder are both black and say that the lens cap is on when it is not. at one point it prompted and error and said to remove and replace the battery. I did that and no more error of that kind. But the lens cap message is still appearing. PLEASE HELP!
