undetectable dv cam

im having trouble making my pc recognize my jvc dv cam gr d22u via firewire. all the pc requirements needed to detect my dv cam are installed. im using adobe primier 2.0 and sony vegas softwares. i also installed the jvc software but the problem is the same. i suspect my firewire cable is not good since i bought it cheaper. my firewire 1394 is recognized. pls advbice me or tell me if you are selling original firewire cables 6-4 pins so i can order it from your office. thank you
