Problems with my TV

A couple of days ago, the power went on and off a few times and the TV will not come back on. When I press the power button the TV comes on and the screen turns green for 5 seconds and then there is a click and then it shuts off. The Timer/standby button blinks. I would like to have some knowledge before I call in the TV repain man. Any ideas?
