Not acquaint with that model, however the symptoms you mention are the classic for a heat related component break down fault, this is why there is an element of a time factor being involved.
I wouldn't keep trying it out as the power units safety shut down circuitry could fail at some point, this causing much more component damage than is presently in existence. Another angle is that its easier for an engineer to quickly locate the faulty component with the set the way it is just now, rather than completely dead!
