sony DSC T1

We are on honeymoon in the Maldives and have a sony DSC T1 which was working perfectly until last night it is now showing message "no memory stick", the memory stick hasn't been removed in about a year. If anyone has had this problem or has any ideas on how we can fix it we would be very grateful. Thanks
