Home | Previous messageI have a sharp VL-Z3 and the intermittend dew signal makes the camera dysfunctional. I read an article about soldering the joints but this seems a bit tricky. Just tried removing the small battery and this seems to have fixed it but I'm wondering for how long ie I only use the camera about every 4 months and usually for an important occasion. Also I sent the camera back to the place of purchase a few years ago because when the tape gets near the end ie about 1/8 of an inch or so, it stops recording sound. They returned it saying there was nothing wrong with the unit and even though it did the same thing, I found dealing with them too demanding. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with the DEW code flashing on the screen. I finally got some Drierite dessicant (anhydrous calcium sulfate). Essentially this is little blue pebbles that absorb moisture. I filled the bottom of a container with the Drierite, then opened all the compartments on the video camera (LCD screen, took out battery, opened where the video tape goes and took out tape, left compartment open). Then I placed the camera in the container with the drierite and sealed the top of the container with plastic wrap. I left the camera in there for two to three days. When I took it back out the DEW code was gone and the camera functioned again. I had been getting the DEW code for months and my camera would not work at all. Good Luck, Sean |
