Nutone Intercom System

I replaced my Nuton Intercom System with an updated version and all I have had is problems - I have had 2 service people come out to check on it and still - door bell doesn't ring - cd player is so very unclear. I don't understand why a new one would be so much trouble. I have had it rewired once. What could be my recourse
