video doesn't transfer

worked fine until I got a new computer. i have several programs to record. roxio is what i used to use or win movie. imagemaker 7.1 tells me monitor mode off. in their tools menu i make sure checkmarked for monitor display. computer lists camera as generic. all function buttons work in all programs but none will show the video.
