I have a sony camera as well and had pictured that i hadnt yet loaded into my computer. After getting a format error and being unable to view my pictures both on the camera and on the computer i downloaded a free program from download.com called "art plus digital recovery 2.3" I was able to recover almost all of my pictures. After that just use the camera to reformat the memory card. Good luck.
