JVC 32

Jeff Blichfeldt Posted May 29, 2007

red light blinks "on timer"

JVC 32" TV manufactured aug 1997 Ser# 13239417 U I woke up one morning and tried to turn the TV on and it did not respond. The red light is flashing that says on timer otherwise there is no response to anything. I bought the TV second hand so I have none of the manuals for trouble shooting. Since I did not pay much and regular TVs are relatively cheap I do not want to pay much to fix it if it a major prob, but the TV has always worked great (for the last 5 years) so I would hate to throw it out if it might be a simple fix. Sincerely, Jeff Blichfeldt

Possibly the 1000 uf 50 volt capacitor in the power supply. But most likely bad connections on the vertical IC, even more likely bad vertical IC, & associated capaitors. Dani.

A blinking timer light on a JVC TV nearly always indicates that the power unit has shut down because a fault has been detected in the circuitry. If the model had been mentioned it may have assisted in knowing an approximate location of the problem, as JVC sets from that era are notorious for vertical scan circuit faults.
