Having problems loading a cassette into my Sony SLV EZ8 VCR.

Hi Stacy, Thanks for this service, it is great. I have a Sony SLV EZ8 model VCR which is currently having carriage problems. It won't accept the cassette tape at all. The carriage remains in the "up" position when I place the tape in. The code that is coming up is 80091. For a while the carriage was "down" (with no tape) and another code was on the screen (can't remember it though). The carriage wouldn't go back up when I pressed the eject button despite it making all the right sounds. I managed to get it back into the up position by using two little levers on either side of the carriage. Just wondering if it is time for a new VCR or can I do something to get it going again.
