hey Greg,
Sony Canada recently announced a recall on this model along with many others regarding the CCD. Not sure if you are in Canada, but Sony is offering free out of warranty repairs. Also, if you have paid for the repair in the past, Sony will reimburse you for the costs.

Me too! I live in Montreal, and I just asked one camera repair shop to estimate the cost of the repair. It was around $500CAN!!! No way I'd repair the camera with that price. So would you be so kind to led me know how to send it for repair free of charge. Thanx!!!

Hello John,
Can you tell me where to go or who I should address myself to to get my camera repaired because it just happend to me a few weeks ago. I'm really frustrated about this, after all the care I gave my camera and it malfunction like this! and the price I paid!!!! Should I write to sony canada directly?
