Help with JVR GR-d73

I purchased my jvc gr-d73 camcorder about three years ago too, I use it quite frequently. I recently turned on the camcorder to record ,but i had no image on th lcd screen.The lens cap error symbol keeped flashing on the screen even tho it was removed.Can you help me or give me some advice to fix the problem. My camera also goes in and out so at times I get an image on the screen other times no image is there but you can hear the sound recorded. Thanks for any help.
