Sony DCR HC40 - error 61:10 LCD screen NOt working Autofocus and zoom not working!

I bought the Sony DCR-HC40E camera 3 years back and after a week of purchase the LCD screen stopped working. I took it to the Sony Authorized service center and they did rectify the problem and all this while i was happy with the camera. Am on a vacation in Singapore, and out of the blue, one fine morning I faced with the exact same problem. This time a lil more! LCD screen stopped working (even though the battery is full charged). But I was able to take pictures using the view finder. But, after a few shots the screen (view founder) started showing the E61:10 error code on the screen and am not able to do zooming, Also, focusing is blurred. This same site suggested to Smack the camera as a solution.. weird, funny, but when i did that.. the E61:10 code stopped coming on the screen.. but still the autofocus and zoom is not working. Would appreciate any help in this. Look forward to hearing from you (with a possible solution maybe) so that my rest of the vacation doesn't get spoiled.
