I assume that when you say you experienced a "static bolt" when carrying out dubbing, is that you are referring to having suffered the effects of a potential difference in voltage that was in existence between the camcorder and whatever you were coupling it up to for the purpose of carrying out the dubbing, or that you touched an earth whilst both were coupled together? as thats the only explanation for that happening, this being obviously caused by an excessive voltage leak in one of the devices power supplies.
If this was the case, then damage could have occurred to the camcorders input circuitry, as this is highly sensitive to any voltage over 12 volts let alone one of a magnitude that can cause a shock.
