IM-4006 Loud Buzz

In the middle of the night, our intercom began making a LOUD buzz. It immediately woke everyone up. Every remote speaker was making this noise. I tried to ring the two external door bells and they worked, but the buzzing sound continued and the chimes could be heard but in the background. I opened up the base station but the only way I could stop noise was by unhooking the power supply. What happened???
