Car Stereo Faceplate not working Model KD-ADV6160/ KD-DV5100. It seems to be FROZEN

Anyone please HELP! My stereo faceplate is as though it's locked. When I attatch it to the stereo all the lights go on. I can play DVD's, CD's and tuner but I have to use the remote control for everything. On the faceplate nothing works, not even the volume knob will turn.
