Sony DVRTVR22 wont; open , tape carriage no worky

Sony DVR TVR22- I had the unit opened up, messing around with the battery connections to improve a loose battery situation. When I put it back together, now the tape door won't open. Outer door will open, but tape carriage will not activate. No sound, no motor, nothing. Fixed loose battery. Camera still works, but can't door open to insert tape. Is there a way to manually open door? Is there some electrical connection i could have damaged causing carriage door not to open. This is my junker field camera so a manual catrriage door would be okay if I could just get it open. Tried other notes for "reseting" carriage door on/off, did not work thanks J
