CD500 Cannot download all photos;but there are there! Can see 120 images but will only download 88.

Wondering why I can see the photos on the camera but then can not download them all. Also after "repairing data" most of my pictures are gone on some disks. Are the disks to scratched or are the photos all ? I reviewed them and rememeber them clearly, but now they don't exist. It happens more then I like.
