Sony DSC-W7 C Turn The Power Off And On Again

George Posted Mar 07, 2007

Amazing repair for Sony DSC-W7 lens retraction problem

Thanks very much guys for helping me solve the problem with "Turn The Power Off And On Again" problem. At firs I was skeptical but realized that if the camera has to be sent to the service there will be not much more harm done if I try the suggested method. So, I turned the camera on to get the "Turn The Power Off And On Again" message. Next I turned it off and forced the lens to fully retract. Then I dropped the camera from about 30 inches to the rug on the floor. When I turned it on again it worked perfectly. I couldn't believe my eyes. Thanks again to whoever found this solution first. He/she saved me big $$$ and hopefully to you too. By the way, otherwise DSC-W7 is a great camera. I love it.

This worked for me also but I didnt drop it from as high, I just held it over my head and dropped it on rug and it took two times and now Camera works perfectly. This was amazing.

Thought the suggestion sounded ridiculous, but it worked. I still have to point the lens down before turning the power for the lens to pop out, but at least it pops out now.

Thanx a lot, this works really !! I've got out the batteries and memory stick before the fall on the floor and used 90 cm for th fall by my third attempt ;-), but it's OK From Sony the hint use only NiMH bat. above 2000mAh and keep them in good condition, eg discharge them once in a time

I just bought a sony DSC W7 from a pawn shop with no instructions. It appeared to be a great camera from the way the clerk handled it but I can't find a manual online or anywhere on how to get the best results can you help me?
