How to get my DVD player to play all DVDs in colour

I recently purchased the above model DVD player. Some DVDs play back in colour and lately, more recent ones only play back in black and white. These are hire DVDs so not like they're not compatible. I've connected the yellow, white & red cables to the TV and also the S cable. The picture is clearer but still not in colour. Are you able to help? Much appreciated.
