Problem in interfacing panasonic nv-ds-60 camcorder with pc using firewire/ieee1394 cable

I have installed the firewire card in my pc.When i connect the firewire cable with my panasonic nv-ds-60 camcorder ,pc dosent recognise the camera for recording the tape on pc harddisc. But the serial port reads the camera for photo images only. I want the recording of the camera tape on pc hard disc for cd recording. For this any driver is needed?
