you should try using the service menu. Google 'jvc service menu' and you will be led to places that tell you how to enter using your remote. Then you can adjust the brightness available through regular remote brightness control. There are alot of warnings about using this menu and the possibility of wrecking what was once good. I just did it and if it causes my tv to fail that's too bad for me.

These tv's are pieces of shit !!! I will NEVER buy JVC again !!!!! My tv is only 3 yrs old and i have to turn the brightness up all the way in order to see anything., I'm sorry I did'nt answer your question but at least I got to bitch about my piece of shit tv.... :-)
