Can't see anything in viewfinder JVC GR DVL310

Victor Posted Feb 22, 2007

Can't see anything in viewfinder, eventhough its never fall, or damage. (Model JVC GR DVL310)

Inquiry based on MiniDVCAM Model JVC GR DVL310. Before this i can use the viewfinder but now i can't see anything in it when shooting. I don't have choice, so i have to use the LCD often, which consume a lot of battery power. - May i know how the viewfinder works? - How it is powered? - Is it use same power source with the video cam battery? - or does it have its own small battery inside? The camera never fall or damage. Is there anything i could do to fix the problem before i decide to get technical expert to fix it for me? Thank you.

Are you pulling out the view finder before you try to use it? I slides out about ½ inch before it will work.

There is a possibility that its the two way switch that flips between LCD and viewfinder that is faulty, insomuch that when the LCD is closed the switch hasnt reverted back to the viewfinder position properly. Try giving the hinge area a quick spray of silicon lubricant of the type used for car electrics, although if this doesnt work then the camcorders case will have to be separated to gain proper access. Of course whats been mentioned is among the lesser of the things that can be responsible for the problem.
