Disassembling and replacing DVD drive in PCG-K215B

Kei Posted Feb 16, 2007

How do I disassemble my Sony VAIO PCG-K215B and replace the DVD writer?

Are there any people at all who are experts and absolutely sound familiar with the PCG-K215B? I've that model, and my DVD writer is 70% dead. I've been through this descriptions dozens of times... Cannot read/write DVD+R, DVD-/+RW. Only read some DVD-R. Cannot erase any DVD-/+RW. Can read/write/erase CDs. I'm very frustrated on this and want to take this stupid Pioneer K12D out and put in a K16. At first I was certained about the faceplate, but now I don't care, I just want a new DVD writer! Does anyone know how to disassemble a PCG-K215B (model PCG-9R6M underneath). I've unscrewed all of the screws below, plus the two near the screen/rear connections. It doesn't seem to come off. Help please, anybody? I've bought 150 blank Maxell DVD-Rs, and my drive can't even read them.
