Sony Trinitron

I have a Sony Trinitron television that just recently "died". My wife was watching television and heard a "POP" from the television and it immediately turned off. In pressing the power button...nothing happens (TV won't turn on). Has anyone seen/had this happen? What could be the cause...is it a repair that could be done at home?
