Re[2]: Dead KP53hs10 due to a1346873a

Alice Posted Feb 11, 2007, in response to:Bill Daugherty

Bill: I keep your request in mine if I cannot get mine resolved. I did net some otherr replies " I repeatedly contact SONY customer service and finally got them to sell me a new unit at a reduced cost directly from SONY…." and found this but have not researched ifthis is possible yet: Re[3]: dead sony kp53hs10 big screen Kurt vonSternberg - 1st Jun 2006 12:57 It "IS" the HV flyback xformer Sony "OEM" P#8-598-828-00 (original obsolete) "AFTERMARKET" replacements ARE available for $18-$30 each from ElectronixOnline, Suburban Electronics, Tritronics, Technotronic-Dimensions, and others. (the replacement flyback is manufactured by ASTI magnetics as P# AI-2305) This is a "very common", notorious failure with these sets in their 4th or 5th year of life---BELIEVE IT !!!! This HV flyback is located on what everybody on this site is calling the (" D " board) It is the large board located on the bottom LEFT of the set viewed from the rear This board is more correctly known as the "DEFLECTION" board or "SWEEP" board Replacing this transformer will correct at least 90% of the "no-powerup" problems with these sets. I am an electronics service tech / engineering tech with over 40 yrs. experience and recently had one of these sets "given" to me in mint condition but "DEAD" with a blinking timer/standby light. I found the problem in about 15 minutes and replaced the HV flyback in about 45 minutes. It fixed the problem 100% and this projection set now nicely resides in my living room as part of my great home theatre system !! It was a great "FREE" gift!!! *****See this web site's HOME PAGE for more detail I have submitted about this problem with these sets and their "LIKES" !
