cant see any video feed

Hi, ive had my sony dcr-hc30 for about 3 years now and it hasn't been giving me much trouble. but just recently it has failed to show any video through the eye piece and the lcd screen. it just stays black the entire time. everything else seems to function perfectly. also, there doesn't seem to be anything loose inside because i cant hear anything. i have no idea what to do. please help
