Need help with Lens On message

I run a repair shop here in NY and a school sent this camcorder in to me complaining about the lens cap on message even when the lens cap is off. Since it is out of warranty and over a year old, my usual JVC repairshop I use wont accept it. Any suggestions? Thanks Joe
