Re: JVC service or questions

Brian Taylor MD Posted Feb 03, 2007, in response to:Stacy Sample

My JVC TV switches off as soon as I switch it on. This happened yesterday. There is a small blinking red light on the front panel which says "Timer". Is this the cause and how do I disable it to turn it on. Wouldn't you know, I lost the maual. Can you please help? Thanks.

A blinking timer light on any JVC TV is nearly always an indication that the power unit has shut down for safety reasons because a fault has been detected somewhere in the circuitry. There is a known fault centred around the vertical scan circuit and which spans across a range of chassis, but as you haven't mentioned what model you have it cant really be said if thats the likely reason for your particular problem.
