Volumn Control

I have the above dvd player but no longer have instruction book. My problem is that I cannot get any sound when I play. The picture is perfect and all the other functions work. I have a JVC RM-SV511U Remote but there is not a button for volume control and I find nothing in the menue that helps. Help! DougT
