I'm sorry, I can't help, but the exact same thing happened to my HCD-S300. I've been looking for the same thing. I plan on replacing the TA2020-020 amplifier and keeping my fingers crossed. Let me know if you find out anything.

I have been trying to get SONY parts, because I need the power board of this DVD player, but the only supplier I could find was ridiclously expensive. Do you know of any reason why the digital amp chip TA2020-020 would blow on a unit like this? I can replace it, but I don't want to go to all trouble if I get the same problem again. It causes all the sound on the external speakers to mute, although you still get sound on the AV output and the headphones. Anyway, this probably was of no help to you, was it? But maybe someone get help me...
